Our Story
Our Journey: Faith and Mission

Founded by St. Katharina Kasper in 1851, the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ are an international congregation committed to a life of love and service. Our mission encompasses nurturing faith, promoting justice, and reaching out to the marginalized, embodying the very essence of Christ’s love.
St. Katharina Kasper established our congregation in Dernbach, Germany, with a vision to uplift the poor and provide spiritual guidance to all. Her deep love for Jesus inspired the foundation of an order that continues to resonate through time.
The PHJC serves a diverse clientele, including those in healthcare, education, and community service. We have touched the lives of countless individuals and families, offering support, prayer, and compassion worldwide.
